Hello and welcome back to Emily’s Maids! Today we wanted to give you 5 tips for keeping your bathroom organized and clutter-free.
As cleaning experts, we all know that the bathroom is the most dreaded room in the house for many people.
Besides having to scrub and rub surfaces to keep them clean and sanitize, you also have to keep your bathroom nice and tidy, and that can be exhausting.
And, if you have unexpected guests or if you haven’t cleaned your bathroom in a while, you don’t want them to see your mess.
This is why we came up with 5 tips to reduce clutter and keep your bathroom organized!
As always, remember to check Emily’s Maids if you need a cleaning service in Dallas to get you out of a hurry.
Maintaining a clutter-free bathroom will make your home look nicer and more expensive. It also increases the overall ambiance.
Now, let’s get to it!
1. Minimize Clutter to Keep Your Bathroom Organized
Keeping a bathroom clean and organized is not easy. At Emily’s Maids, we know from experience that keeping clutter-free countertops is a challenge. Sooner than later, toiletries, makeup, and other essentials start to “grow” on top of your countertops.
Here’s a pro tip to maintain your countertops clutter-free: create a habit that is easy to accomplish. Spend 15 minutes a week discarding empty or expired products and organizing them. Set a timer on your phone and you will be done with it before you realize it.
Nowadays there’s no excuse to forget about having to do a habit. You can set up an alarm or event on your calendar, or ask your kids to do it for you.
The second step: create specific areas for each item in your countertops, and have fun with it! It doesn’t have to be an old, ugly tray that you’ve kept for 20 years.
There are many affordable and modern options nowadays, like lazy susans, acrylic containers, and even 2-tier or 3-tier shelves. Your items will be easier to find and also look nicer and more tidy.
2. Optimize Storage Solutions
Just like it happens with your countertops, a well-organized bathroom needs optimal storage solutions.
If you have a pedestal sink, or if you have a tiny bathroom, it’s even more of a need to have extra storage space.
Fortunately, sink cabinets are affordable and easy to build by yourself, even if you already have a pedestal sink and you want to attach an extra cabinet for storage.
Whatever solution you choose, make sure you leave as much free space as possible for you to walk on your bathroom without any obstacles. That’s why you need to optimize areas where you won’t be standing over (e.g. above the toilet, under the sink).
Try different options such as over-the-toilet and under-the-sink storage cabinets, wall shelves, and even pegboards behind the back of your bathroom door.
This will optimize all the available space you have and reduce cluttered items in the open.
3. A Clean Bathroom is an Organized Bathroom
Believe it or not, an organized and clutter-free bathroom always starts with a consistent cleaning routine.
If you clean your bathroom once a week or twice a month, chances are you will also organize your items and keep things tidy while you’re at it.
A clean bathroom creates the illusion of being organized and clutter free, and vice versa.
You can combine cleaning with tidying up and organizing. For example: apply a cleaning solution to your shower, and while you’re waiting 15 – 30 minutes for it to act on the surface, you can tidy up your vanity sink.
Natural cleaning solutions can be great options to clean your bathroom quickly and efficiently, as you won’t have to switch between products and spend unnecessary time.
4. Create a Laundry System
It’s not uncommon to find dirty laundry scattered all across the floor. For obvious reasons, this means you won’t have an organized bathroom.
You have several options to fix this: either a laundry basket inside a cabinet, or a designated hamper in a corner. Some baskets are extremely narrow and even fit between your sink and the bathroom wall.
This will help you keep your bathroom tidy and free from clutter. If it’s a closed cabinet, make sure it has some form of ventilation, like louvered doors.
Make sure everyone in your household sticks to this laundry system! Keeping a clutter-free bathroom, like any other house cleaning task, is a team effort.
5. Label Everything!
Having labels for each member of your household is important. Both kids and adults will feel motivated to “follow” these labels and put each item in the proper container or shelf.
You can assign labels based on categories (e.g., personal care, shower, hair products, body scrubs…) or assign a label for each family member, or both!
Whatever works for you based on your containers and your available space in total.
Now you can find hundreds of different sticky labels, or write your own labels. Keep in mind they need to be as similar as possible to remain consistent and make it look even more organized.
Conclusion
By following these tips, you can transform your bathroom into a clutter-free space.
Remember our cleaning tips: minimize clutter in your countertops, optimize storage solutions, clean your bathrooms frequently, and create a laundry system.
It’s only going to take a tiny bit of effort and especially, consistency. But in no time, you will feel relaxed knowing your bathroom looks tidy and clean.
