At Emily’s Maids, hiring the right team members is crucial—after all, we’re looking for people who make homes sparkle and customers smile. Here’s how we identify top-tier candidates and avoid common hiring missteps.
Consider Hiring:
- Experienced Pros: People with years of experience in hotel housekeeping or professional maid services. They already know how to handle the toughest cleaning jobs like a pro.
- Loyal Workers: Candidates who’ve stuck with the same employer for four years or more, especially in physically demanding jobs like maid services, hotel housekeeping, or warehouse work. If they can stick around, they’re likely to bring that same commitment to Emily’s Maids.
- Good-Hearted People: We want employees who don’t just have a solid work ethic, but also a good heart. After all, it’s not just about cleaning—it’s about caring.
Do Not Hire:
- Don’t Hire Out of Desperation: We’ve all been there—too much work and not enough hands. But rushing to hire under pressure can lead to regrets. Keep posting ads until the right candidate comes along.
- Avoid “Family Cleaners”: If a candidate has only cleaned for their family or on their own, they may be tempted to start taking your clients with them. That’s a no-go!
- No Tag-Team Hires: Hiring close friends or family members together? Be careful! If one leaves, the other might just follow, leaving you with two vacancies.
- Steer Clear of the “Down and Out”: While we empathize with life’s challenges, candidates who can’t keep their own life together may struggle to stay on top of the demands of the job.
- Say No to Job Hoppers: Turnover is expensive and disruptive. We’re looking for long-term team members who plan to grow with Emily’s Maids, not someone who treats this as just another stop on their job-hopping journey.

Facebook job ads have been our MVP in finding quality candidates. So, place those Facebook ads as soon as you anticipate a need for new employees.
Placing Facebook Ads
- Paid Ads: Paid Facebook ads work best when hiring house cleaners. Head over to our Facebook page, click on “Jobs” in the left column, and look for the ad titled “Profesionales en limpieza de casas.” Just click “Renew Job Post,” and you’re good to go.
- Free Ads: When you’ve got some spare time, post free ads in local Facebook groups. Just make sure to follow each group’s rules for posting to avoid getting flagged by the admins.
- Online Ads: Craigslist and Backpage are still great for finding candidates, especially office staff. Don’t hesitate to check out other online classifieds for Dallas-based job seekers.
With a methodical approach to hiring, you’ll be building a team of superstars that will help Emily’s Maids continue to thrive. Stay patient, stay selective, and remember—a clean house is only as good as the people cleaning it!
