If your home is somewhat tidy and clean, you can forget about cleaning today! Focus on Christmas and enjoy this holiday time. Next week you can call Emily’s Maids, our professional cleaning service in Dallas, and have them take care of your home.

Put your Santa hat and your cleaning gloves and let’s dive into the Emily’s Maids’ 4-Hour Christmas Cleaning checklist!

Step 1: Create a Christmas Cleaning Checklist (15 minutes)

We always suggest to start with a quick cleaning checklist and gathering your cleaning supplies. Keep in mind that you shouldn’t spend more than 10 or 15 minutes on this task. You don’t want to overthink and spend time and energy when you have a full house cleaning ahead.

Prioritize tasks based on the areas where your guests are likely to spend the most time. If you like taking the role of a chef, then spend some time cleaning your kitchen.

If you prefer hanging out in your living room or TV room, then make sure those areas are glowing.

This will also help you sort out the time you designate for each room.

Also, take the time to grab the right tools. Grab an all-purpose cleaner, microfiber cloths, a vacuum cleaner, and a mop. At Emily’s Maids, we’re all for choosing eco-friendly cleaning products. White vinegar and water is often a cheap, safe-to-use product.

Pro tip: declutter surfaces before cleaning. You want to save time, let’s not spend it on items that you will store in a drawer afterward anyways!

Step 2: Clean Your Living Room (1 Hour)

The living room is, for many, te heart of holiday festivities. Let’s give it the love it deserves!

Start by dusting surfaces, rearranging furniture and create a cozy atmosphere.

Vacuum your rugs and carpet floors at the end and light some holiday-scented candles.

Step 2: Kitchen Cleaning (1.5 Hours)

Your kitchen truly is the heart of the home. Let’s impress your guests for Christmas Eve!

Wipe down countertops, clean appliances, and scrub your sink. Usually a mix of soap and vinegar should be enough to deodorize and remove grease.

Don’t forget the floors, of course! Kitchen floors are usually a bit messy and greasy. Sweep or vacuum and then mop your floors. If you don’t have a floor deodorizer at hand, you can mix a gallon of water with half a cup of vinegar and 10 drops of essential oil. Your floors will look shiny, clean and with a subtle, pleasant fragrance.

Just like you did with your living room, lighting a cinnamon candle will give be the cherry on the cake.

Step 4: Create a Magical Christmas Bathroom (45 minutes)

Your guests will need to use the restroom a few times tonight, so it’s important they find a clean and tidy room.

Start with the toilet by leaving some washing soda mixed with hot water on the surface for 15 minutes. In the meantime, wipe your mirror with a glass microfiber cloth.

Quickly rinse your sink with a sponge and just one drop of soap to remove soap scum and toothpaste residues.

Remember to shut your bathroom curtain! You probably won’t have time to clean your shower in such short notice, so it’s best to keep this area closed.

If you have extra time to deep clean your bathroom, follow Emily’s Maids bathroom cleaning guide!

The clock is ticking so it’s time to give your home the final cleaning touches. Ensure every corner looks clean and tidy. Add some holiday decorations and scented candles as well, if you haven’t done so already.

Quickly wipe any potential surfaces where your guests will sit: benches, sofas and bar stools.
